AGRICULTURE

DEIMOS-1 and DEIMOS-2 imagery can be used in a variety of Agriculture Applications. Some examples include: drought assessment, crop management (e.g. crop type analysis and crop status assessment), crop insurance, grazing management (e.g. livestock stocking rate, grass availability, overstocking risk). Deimos Imaging can directly provide value added Ag services to customers, or rely on its global network of partners which can offer a wide portfolio of tailored services. DEIMOS-1 has been designed especially for Ag applications, and it has quickly become one of the leading sources for Ag applications worldwide. This is confirmed each year since 2011 by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which uses DEIMOS-1 and its twin DMC-2 data to monitor the evolution of more than 100 types of crops nationwide, and to produce its annual 30-m Cropland Data Layers which classifies all types of crops in the US. DEIMOS-2 images are a powerful and affordable data source for precision agriculture services.

EMERGENCIES

Deimos Imaging has developed a flexible and rapid acquisition chains to support actors dealing with Emergency Services e.g Civil Protection agencies responding to forest fires and flooding events. Through our involvement in the Copernicus Emergency Management Services (EMS) which dates back to 2010, we have established Near Real Time delivery capability, being able to deliver a processed image in less than 30 minutes from its acquisition by the satellite. Deimos Imaging provides fast 24/7 access to its satellite imagery services, particularly in emergencies or in response to requests for rescue operations, ensuring reliable delivery, which is key for co-ordination with local authorities, and offering accurate information of high quality in an accessible and user-friendly format.

ENVIRONMENT

Deimos Imaging environment services are currently focused on the Forestry sector, based on the monitoring of forests at stand level (i.e. the basic unit for forest management). The capacity to provide downstream services, based on cloud-free imagery has been tested on demanding areas of the world, as e.g. the Tropics. Deimos Imaging provides such services to both the public and private sector, having supported for example the European Space Agency (ESA) in its TropForest project (aiming to estimate the degree of forest cover change and degradation in the tropical forests of Latin America and South East Asia through the utilization of Earth Observation data) or private forestry management companies in monitoring plantations worldwide.

INTELLIGENCE

DEIMOS satellites spatial resolution span from 22 m to 75 cm and provide routine, wide area surveillance over the globe. They can be pointed to a targeted location for monitoring specific operations or to gather information in response to emergency and crisis situations.
DEIMOS-1 and DEIMOS-2 data can provide geospatial products and services for government agencies and defense contractors for various applications in Defense and Security including:

  • border surveillance: by supporting the activity mapping, permeability analysis and monitoring of border areas.
  • maritime surveillance: supporting application relevant with security and safety, as the monitoring of marine pollution, detection of potential illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities and identification of probable polluting vessels.

Moreover, Deimos Imaging can offer a Direct Receiving Station to selected customers worldwide, allowing them to plan acquisitions, download and process its data directly in the customer’s premises, with maximum priority and confidentiality.

MAPPING

Climatic changes and an increasing global population put continued pressure on our environment. DEIMOS-1 and DEIMOS-2 data allow effective management strategies to be implemented providing up-to-date and reliable information about the state of the environment and how it is changing. Mapping services include: land use, mapping of irrigated areas, vineyard management and olive plantation control. DEIMOS satellite data can also provide detailed information for specific areas of interest e.g. biodiversity hot spots, water bodies and urban areas. The images can seamless be integrated in a Geographic Information System (GIS), enabling prompt quantification and mapping layers. Oil and Gas industry can also benefit from DEIMOS satellite data mapping since they are an extremely useful and cost-effective information source. Satellite images represent information of high and uniform quality being an ideal option to assess and monitor remote targets in an international setting, or to control large areas frequently anywhere in the world.
