Deimos Imaging, in cooperation with Elecnor Deimos, has developed the gs4EO® suite, the first modular end-to-end solution for a Ground Segment for an Earth Observation mission. We use the gs4EO® suite in the Ground Segments of our own DEIMOS-1 and DEIMOS-2 missions.
We can deploy worldwide a Direct or a Virtual Receiving Station, both based on the gs4EO® suite, allowing to command our DEIMOS-1 and DEIMOS-2 satellites, and to download, process, distribute and archive their imagery.
gs4EO® Customised Ground Segments
Deimos Imaging Ground Segments, including DEIMOS-2, are based on the gs4EO® suite of products. This state-of-the-art suite is the result of more than a decade of work for the European Space Agency, supporting Earth Observation missions. A full, end-to-end Ground Segment can be built using a combination of 4EO modules, working in a coherent and synchronized way, even if all of them can also be used as independent applications.
Each module communicates with the rest of the Ground Segment using file-based interfaces, easing its integration with other external solutions. Each module is controlled by means of advanced, user-friendly graphical interfaces. Thanks to its modular design, the gs4EO® suite can be used to customize a Ground Segment according to the Customer’s requirements.
The various modules can be assembled in different ways to implement a wide range of deployment configurations. This high flexibility and scalability allows to maximise the mission return in a very cost-effective way.
All Ground Stations, Direct or Virtual, are based on the gs4EO® suite of proven, scalable and modular technology. They can be set up to receive one or multiple satellites, with different levels of control and data processing.
The complete infrastructure can be provided, including dedicated premises and antenna, up to a simple adaptation of the existing infrastructures when only a basic access to planning and telemetry download is required.
direct receiving stations
Direct Receiving Stations (DRS) provide privileged access to any of our satellites. Tasking, telemetry download and processing are locally available, allowing for fast, secure and private use of the satellites. Having a DRS is like co-owning a satellite, as guaranteed access to its capacity is assured. It gives you satellite time and privacy: you can be the first or the only one to collect and receive our data over your area.
virtual receiving stations
Virtual Receiving Stations (VRS) provide access to tasking and data processing of any of our available satellites, being the ideal solution when telemetry download is not a requirement. The VRS is a complete Ground Segment conceived without a receiving antenna, allowing for dedicated satellite planning and local processing and archiving. Data is downloaded at Deimos Imaging premises and delivered with high priority.
ground station network
Deimos Imaging owns two Mission Control Centres in Spain (Boecillo and Puertollano), that provide platform operations and manage all communications with our DEIMOS-1 and DEIMOS-2 satellites. These Mission Control Centres are operated 24/7, 365 days per year. Three secondary stations at high latitudes (Norway, Sweden and Canada) assure one contact every orbit with all satellites, allowing commanding and data download.
