The Riverland region located near the Murray river in South Australia, is pictured in this false color image. Some of the major towns, among others, visible from centre left to centre right are: Barmera, Monash, Berri and Renmark. The region grows about half of South Australia’s grapes, and 90% of the Australian citrus and stone fruit. Mostly of the australian wine companies source a significant amount of wine from the Riverland region. The majority of the River Murray and surroundings is protected natural reserve. The region includes the UNESCO-listed Bookmark Biosphere Reserve (BBR) and 40 national and conservation parks that protect widely differing ecosystems.
