DEIMOS-1 Image of the week (acquired 4/5/2015): Westfjords, Iceland
This image shows the trident-shaped peninsulas in the southwest of the Westfjords, Iceland. The Westfjords is the name of a large peninsula in northwestern Iceland and is located on the Denmark Strait, facing the east coast of Greenland. It is connected to the rest of Iceland by a 7 km wide isthmus between Gilsfjörður and Bitrufjörður. The Westfjords are very mountainous; the coastline is heavily indented by dozens of fjords surrounded by steep hills. The westfjords are considered one of the most remote and beautiful landscape in the world.
