This image shows the famous lagoon and luxury bungalows in the unique island of Bora Bora, French Polynesia.
The island, located about 250 km northwest of Tahiti and approximately 4150 km south of Hawaii, was discovered in 1722.
The main island has in the center the remnants of an extinct volcano and it’s surrounded by a turquoise lagoon and a barrier reef.
Considered the most beautiful island in the Pacific Ocean, Bora Bora means in tahitian language “first born”.
Bora Bora is a major international tourist destination, famous for its aqua-centric luxury resorts. The major settlement, Vaitape, is located on the western side of island, opposite the main channel into the lagoon. Mostly of the island’s economy is driven by tourism and bungalows on the water are a standard feature of most Bora Bora resorts.
