DEIMOS-2 Image of the Week (acquired 8/4/2015): Kremlin and Red Square
The Kremlin and Red Square located in the city of Moscow, Russia, are depicted in this image. In 1990, the Kremlin and Red Square were named Unesco World Heritage Site, containing an ensemble of monuments of outstanding quality. In the image center´s are visible: the Saint Basil’s Cathedral (right), the Spasskaya Tower (left) and the Lenin´s mausoleum (upper left). Going inside the Kremlin´s wall, the Cathedral of the Dormition and its five golden cupolas, where all the Tsars were crowned, can be seen. Also visible in the image (from left to right) are the Bolshoy Kamenny and Bolshoy Moskvoretsky bridges, which cross the Moskva river and are situated respectively at the western and eastern end of the Kremlin.
