A wildfire ravaged the resin pine grove “Los Comunes” in Nieva, a municipality located in the province of Segovia, Spain.

The fire began in the afternoon of Thursday, April 20th. According to the Territorial Delegate of the regional government of Castilla y León, Javier López-Escobar, around 400 ha were burnt. Moreover, he appointed that the fire was most likely caused by “ordinary burning” of the pruning remains.

DEIMOS-2 captured the burnt area just one day after the fire and, by zooming in the image, every single tree can be counted!
